Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club continued with their treble dreams when they defeated rivals Express FC 3-2 in the Uganda cup semi final first leg tie played at Phillip Omondi stadium in a five goal thriller.
In a match witnessed by an impressing crowd, the visitors got a chance in the 16th minute through Mahad Yaya Kakooza but his effort went wide.
The awaited moment then came in the 37th when on form midfielder Tom Masiko brilliantly curled a free kick to gift the visitors with a half time lead.
In the second half, Azam Uganda Premier league champions began in high gear in search for a second goal and in the 48th minute their hunt paid off with ever green striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma scoring from 12yards after Masiko had been brought down.
At this moment it looked like a walk over for KCCA FC but Express kept on pushing harder until when Simon Sserunkuma pulled one back in the 58th minute.
In less than a minute, KCCA FC capitalised on their lead through Geoffrey Sserunkuma in for his second on the evening to make it 3-1 in the 59th minute.
Allan Kyambadde later scored Express second in the 71st minute a goal that will be so vital in the second leg.
The two sides meet again in the return leg on Tuesday at Muteesa ll stadium, Wankulukuku with Express carrying two away goals to see who will make it to the finals of this year’s Uganda cup that will be played at the Betway Green light stadium in Arua in June.
In the other match, Phaida Black Angles will take on Sadolin Paints at Namboole stadium on Saturday carrying a 2-0 advantage from the first round that was played a fortnight ago in the West Nile region.
