Azam Uganda Premier League table leaders KCCA FC defeated Proline FC 2-0 in a build up match on Sunday morning at Phillip Omondi stadium in a match both sides used to fine tune their squads ahead of the second round.

Proline FC started lively with striker Bayo Fahad threatening but goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was alert to deal with him.

The home side then got their first chance through Derrick Nsibambi forcing Proline FC new custodian Godwin Buule into a fine save.

Minutes later the KCCA FC got another clear chance this time from midfielder Isaac Kirabira from a rebound only to hit the post.

With three minutes to end the first half, classy midfielder Gift Ali released Bayo Fahad in a one on one situation forcing goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan into another fine save to ensure the first half ends goalless.

In the second half, Mike Mutebi made two quick changes bringing on Nigerian Sulaimon Akinyemi and youthful defender Peter Makango.

Seven minutes later Proline FC midfielder Sam Kintu blind pass was well connected by Habibu Kavuma finding tricky winger Brian Majwega who calmly beat defender Mujuzi Mustafa with a well laid minus for Muzamir Mutyaba to break the deadlock.

Proline FC then made four changes introducing Nelson Senkatuka, Denis Makoba, Noordin Bunjo and Joshua Okiror.

The changes almost paid off with Noordin Bunjo’s clever through pass to Bayo Fahad hitting the side net.

The home side later introduced talented teenage midfielder Allan Okello who immediately made an impact with a well weighed cross that was headed in by Derrick Nsibambi to make it 2-0.

Proline FC head coach Mujib Kasule again made changes bringing on Solomon Wafula, Ivan Kato and Hanson Asiimwe but the tripple couldn’t save the team from defeat.

Both teams are preparing for the second round of the AUPL that kicks off on 7th February with KCCA FC playing at home to Bul FC and Proline FC taking on Arua based side Onduparaka FC.
