It will take a miracle for the league’s chasing pack to stop KCCA FC’s title pursuit.
The Lugogo-based side received a big boost on Saturday with an emphatic 2-1 win over Police FC.
Now six points clear at the top of the table with 41 points, KCCA’s win came without star players Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Muzamir Mutyaba, Timothy Awany, Ivan Ntege and Lawrence Kasadha. Reigning champions Vipers’ 2-2 draw with SC Villa on Friday exposed their inability to readily fill the void left behind Farouk Miya, whereas other competitors URA FC and Police FC have also flattered to deceive lately.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi is not getting carried away. He admits the trophy is theirs to lose but is preaching calm in his camp.
The top four battle has now attracted Villa and Soana FC whereas the relegation dog fight is getting more interesting with The Saints FC, SCVU, Maroons and Simba FC still jostling for topflight survival.
KCCA are chasing an 11th Championship in their illustrious history and third crown in four seasons. They were league winners in 2013 and 2014 before rivals Vipers won the title in 2015.
