Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have been handed a tricky draw for the group stage of this year’s African Champions League.
KCCA are into the group stages of the tournament for their first time in history and will face fellow debutants Township Rollers of Botswana, Esperance of Tunisia, and Egypt’s Al Ahly who have both been continental champions in the past.
The Kasasiro Boys will need to finish in the top two to book a sport in the quarterfinals.
The Uganda Champions beat St George of Ethiopia 1-0 on aggregate in the last round, and will be hoping to push on even further when the group stages get underway.
Ahly will meet Esperance in a replay of another one of last year’s quarter finals after the pair were drawn out in same group.
Title holders Wyad Casablanca of Morocco were pitted against 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
The first group games will be played on the weekend of 6-8 April with the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarter-finals.
