KCCA of Uganda continued their impressive form at he ongoing Cecafa Kagame cup with another emphatic 1-0 win over Atletico of Burundi to close in on a quarter final place in a hotly contested match played at the Kigali regional stadium.
The solitary goal in the 22nd minute came via a penalty spot calmly converted by experienced Brian Umony after an infringement by Telecom keeper Kandolo Emedi Akimana who tried to block him.
Brian Majwega could have put KCCA ahead in the early exchanges but his well taken shot only managed to rattle the woodwork as the Atletico defense was caught napping.
KCCA have had a roller coaster ride beating Kenyan champions Gor Mahia 2-1 in their first game announcing their early intentions in the highly competitive Kagame Cup.
Majwega who was named man-of-the-match praised his coach Nsimbe’s tactics. “We came into this game knowing that we had to win. We followed the coach’s instructions and picked our chances and tha will make it to the quarterfinals. Police FC of Rwanda is the only team to have qualified for the last eight.
