Football Kenya Federation (FKF) say they will play Comoros in a friendly in Morocco – but Comoros say they have not yet finalized negotiations with Kenyan football authorities.
The FKF says the game had been arranged as part of their build-up to their third round of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
It is supposed to be on 23 March at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, the home of Moroccan club AS FAR Rabat.
But the Comoros Football Association (FCF ) told 269 Comoros football all the conditions for staging of the match have not been met by the Kenyan FA.
“For two months, we have had contacts with Mali, Burkina Faso, Andoraa and Kenya. We are waiting according to the discussions against whom we will play,” said FCF Spokesperson.
“As per now we have not reached any agreement for a friendly with any team in March.”
However, a source close to Comoros camp has disclosed to us that the negotiations may not continue because of the pending elections of the new president of the federation which will be held on Sunday thus their deal with Kenya may not be sealed this week.
Relationship between the Comoros national team and their mother federation has been in crisis since December and that forms the reason why the match against Kenya may not be played if the current leadership is voted for another term.
The Harambee Stars are in Group F which also features Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Ghana. There were negotiations to have Kenya play Cameroon in a friendly on same date before but the plans fell though.
