Kenya Elections :Sports Minister Wario urges delegates to vote out incumbent Sam Nyamweya

Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario has called on football delegates in the country to vote out Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya in order to effect change in the country’s football scene.

Speaking during the quarter final match between Harambee Stars and Rwanda in Ethiopia, Wario blamed FKF  for the latest debacle facing the national team saying the government has been on the forefront in supporting the team.

He said the elections slated for December 14, 2015 should be a turning point for Kenyan football calling on the delegates to ensure the current office is shown the door.

Wario’s pronouncement comes a day after Nyamweya said the forthcoming football elections will be his last and vowed to relinquish his position if he loses in the elections.

Nyamweya who is accused of running down football in Kenya has defended himself  sating  he is the right man to run Kenya’s football saying most of the contestants have worked under him for a long time and have nothing to offer.

The current misfortune in Kenya’s football team took a turn for the worst after Harambee Stars was bundled out of the competition by Rwanda in a quarter final match against played on Tuesday.

The match had concluded in a barren draw prompting the two teams to head to penalties with Rwanda scoring all their goals while Harambee Stars lost one.

The defeat comes barely a month after Harambee Stars was knocked out of the World Cup Qualifiers by Cape Verde going down 2-0 away to cancel out their 1-0 home win in Nairobi.

The Cape Verde debacle saw Harambee Stars fly for over 23 hours reaching Praia only 3 hours to their game after massive delays in Nairobi.
