Former Harambee Stars midfielder,Sammy Taabu has sadly passed away.
The former national team captain collapsed in his vehicle moments after doing exercises at Railway Training Institute ground in Nairobi as announced by Iqra FM.
“Former Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards midfielder SALIM/SAMMY TAABU is dead. The former Kenyan skipper has just collapsed in his vehicle,” reads the tweet.
The late Taabu played for Harambee Stars after being discovered in 1970’s by a German coach named Krautzun in one of Olympic Youth Centres set by goverment all over the country.
He went on to play for Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards in the 80’s where he also served as the club assistant coach in the late 1990’s.
