Kenya U-17 national team will be the guest nation in COSAFA U- 17 championships that will start on Friday July 22 in Mauritius after Mozambique withdrew from the competition.
In a statement released yesterday by Cosafa Media the Young Mambas withdrew due to commitment they have to a youth tournament in Cape Verde that clashes with the Cosafa championship.
Kenya senior team have been participating in COSAFA organized tournaments, they took part in2013 COSAFA Cup as well as Under -20 championships losing narrowly to South Africa I the finals.
Kenya will be in Group B at the Under 17 championships that will begin in July 22 along with Zambia ,Malawi and Madagascar.
The best two finishers in the pool will make it to the semifinals with the finals played on July 31.
Kenya will be using this tournament to prepare for Africa u17 Champion ships qualifier against Cameroon one week after COSAFA under 17 Championship.
Kenya youngsters have been camping at in Moi Interrational Sports Centre in preparations for the tournaments.
It remains doubtful if they will honour a scheduled friendly match against Tanzania on July 23 in Dar Es Salaam,Tanazania.
