FIFA have written to FKF that they will not be able to conduct elections under the 47 counties proposed in the last AGM in Nairobi stating that its too late for the process to be implemented effectively with National elections slated for November 3.
The letter written by acting FIFA secretary general Markus Kattner said the “Changes from Branches to counties can be envisaged even though it would be important to assess the effect on the balance of the different stakeholders represented in the Annual General meeting “.
In the last Annual General Meeting held in Nairobi on the 28th August 2015 the delegates that converged in Nairobi all agreed to the transformation of all the branches into 47 counties as per the new Kenyan constitutional dispensation implemented in 2010 and followed up in FKF’s AGM in Kabarak on the 27th September 2014 that implemented the same into the football bodies constitution.
However it is becoming clear that Football Kenya Federation(FKF) under President Sam Nyamweya failed deliberately to avail to FIFA minutes of the AGM held on 27th of September 2014 and signed by President Sam Nyamweya as Article 10 of the constitution was amended as the minute 18.1 of 2014.
In the amendment of 27th September 2014 signed by the Federation President the meaning of” BRANCH” vis a vis “COUNTY” is clarified as per FKF’s constitution.
See the meaning of a FKF Branch
“A branch means a geographic entity corresponding to a “COUNTY ” as created and defined by the constitution of the Republic of Kenya as adopted in the 2014 AGM in Kabarak”.
The new developments have raised alot of heat and tension as football stakeholders demand for transparency and accountability as Incumbent President Nyamweya is being accused of using his position to deliberately give false information to FIFA to give him undue advantage ahead of the much anticipated football elections.
Many delegates and football stakeholders who spoke to Soka25east.com on the issue cast aspersions on the credibility of the elections and accused the President of not being sincere in his communications to FIFA which have been viewed as deceptive and intended at hoodwinking the World Football governing body.
Incumbent FKF President Sam Nyamweya has encountered the fiercest and unprecedented challenge since taking over officially in 2011 when he was elected to a 4 year term.
