Kenyan Premier League Top scorer Tusker’s Jesse Were has failed trials at South Africa PSL club Bidvest Wits Soka25east.com can exclusively reveal.
Were who has been in impressive for for his clubs scoring 19 goals that included 3 consecutive hatricks failed to impress coach Gavin Hunt after being given a week to prove himself he had to return home to Kenya on Saturday 22nd.
Bidvest Wits have been looking to sign a top striker after offloading their Ethiopian marksman Getaneh Kebede who was loaned to Amatuks.
Jesse Were was taken through rigorous training with the team but at the end he failed to impress Hunt who has now requested to have Kenyan Premier League second top scorer Michael Olunga to see if he can impress with only one week to the closure of the transfer window.
A close source who was privy of the trials in South Africa intimated to Soka25east.com “Jesse Were still needs to learn a lot of aspects he did not fit into coach Gavin Hunt immediate plans that is why he could not be signed”.
It was the second blow for Were who suffered the same fate earlier this year when he travelled to Ethiopian for trials with giants St.George but he also failed to make the cut.
However Jesse Were got a consolation on Monday after he was awarded the prestigious SportPesa/Sjak July player of the month that comes with a 42 inch Television and $500 dollar prize .
The award is a joint collaboration between Sports Journalists Association of Kenya and betting company SportPesa.
