Muhoroni Youth moved to the 9th position of the Sportpesa sponsored Kenya Premier league with a deserved 1-0 voctory over Thika United at the Muhoroni Stadium.
The match began on a high with both teams pressing hard for the opener but it was Muhoroni who were more hungrier in goal.
Wellington Ochieng came close to putting the hosts ahead but his connecting pass was well handled by Hamza Muwonge in Thika goal.
The Ugandan was at it again when he denied impressive George Mandela who had combined well with Ochomo and Abbas Akinyemi.
Muhoroni pressed on with Mandela and Ochomo missing several goal scoring chances.
Jackson Macharia and Kennedy Otieno both had their efforts thwarted by Faruk Shikalo in Muhoroni goal.
Both teams failed to get a goal as the first half ended goalless.
On resumption,Paul Nkata brought in former Gor Mahia and Western Stima man Paul Odhiambo for Mike Khadula to strengthen the foward.
Infront of a cheering passionate Muhoroni sizeable crowd that endured an earlier drizzle,The hosts pressed on and in the 65th minute, impressive George Mandela was brought down just near the 18 yard box.The resultant free kick was neatly slotted in to the net by Wycliff Nyangechi.
With Muhoroni leading,Thika pressed on for an equalizer in vain.
Coach Tim Bryett brought on Kepha Aswani for Jackson Macharia but the Muhoroni Sugar boys held on to bag the maximum points.
