Singaporean sports Apparel Company Mafro have today signed unprecedented technical sponsorship deal with the Football Kenya Federation for the next three-years.
The deal worth $750,000 over the period will see Mafro supply 600 pieces of kits per all Kenya national teams including the senior men’s team the Harambee Stars and women’s side the Harambee Starlets as well as the junior sides.
“We have to thank Mafro for coming to us. The good thing with this deal is we will be paid for wearing Mfro and now we can channel the money we were using on kitting to other projects,” Nick Mwendwa, the FKF boss said.
The national teams have suffered identity crisis before and have been known to don any available brand of kits when representing the country. The new designs which incorporates the four national colors of the Kenyan flag, seeks to solve this.
“The kit is designed to suit the Kenyan taste where tourism is a major attraction,” Mfro Sports Managing Director Mr. Mohamoud Gondha said.
The news comes a day after Mafro entered into a similar contract with the Football Association of Zambia worth $400,000 over two-years.
Junior Chipololo currently representing Zambia at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Korea Republic are already using the kit.
Replicas for Kenyan fans are expected to hit the stores before Harambee Stars begin the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in June.
