Visiting Muhoroni Youth extended their impressive League run with it’s fifth straight victory with a comfortable 1-0 win over Western Stima at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
In a match that was filled with a lot of tension with close to 100 travelling supporters of Muhoroni setting one side of the stadium in a music and song tempo, The Moses Adagala side did not disappoint their loyal fans when impressive George Mandela headed in a Francis Ocholla fine cross for the all important goal.
The match started on a high with the power men more hungrier in goal.Eston Edie came close to putting the home side ahead but he was ruled offside, three minutes later in the 40th minute Wyckoff Ochomo’s powerful shot was cleared off the line by Daniel Malachi.
The all important goal came in the 43rd minute when Francis Ocholla fed George Mandela with a fine cross as the youngster headed home for a Half time lead.
On resumption, coach Henry Omino brought in David Okello ‘Jarule’ for Victor Ochieng to add more power upfront.
The substitute got involved in the match as his cross aimed at Shafique Batambuze was ruled for offside.
The hosts continued to press on and a 55th minute corner for western Stima was parried away by the Farouk Shimano in Muhoroni goal, the resultant rebound went over bar.
muhoroni began playing cautiously and looked composed in its rear guard with Yusuf Mohammed,Wycliff Nyangechi,Frankline Osama confident at the defence.
Coach Henry Omino withdrew exhausted Baron Oketch for Edmond Maura to get the much needed equalizer but Muhironi pressed on until the final minutes.Wellington Ochieng’s entry for George Mandela was a gesture of time wasting.
The Awasi based side won the match by a solitary goal completing a double of the Power men.
They now move to the 7th position on 32 points leapfrogging Western Stima who now moves down to the 8th postion in the log maintaining 30 points.
