Kenya-Muhoroni Youth’s growing fan base commendable

By Austin Oduor Otieno.

One may ask why it is difficult to collect maximum points at the Muhoroni grounds, not even a point. This puzzle is just but the increasing fan base of the Sugar belt base club.

The club is owned by Moses Adagala,a former goalkeeper who is a native of the region. It was promoted to the top tier when the unified  FKL and KFF promoted a team each to the top tier. Muhoroni lead the KFF ahead of Kakamega Homeboyz while Oserian lead the FKL side.

The team has since remained in the top tier since it gained promotion, and the most interesting of it all is the fan base.

The fans who are close to 100 when away and around 500  at home includes different ages in yellow jerseys christened Muhoroni Youth. The fans beat their drums and yell supporting their team to the top of their voice.

Most of the fans know their players by names, they encourage the players and even know which each player is capable of doing.example is when a foul outside the 18 yard box,all will chant with the name of Nyangechi who is their player specialized it taking free kicks and  whom they believe will convert whenever the chance arise.

Interesting to note that, the fans get full support from Club president Moses Adagala.

The club has had a fine run in the second leg winning the last 5 matches so far.Earlier on in the first leg,the club beat Western Stima in an ill tempered match where Western stima president Laban Jobita filed a case with the league’s appeals committee where the club was fined close to  Ksh 600,000(approximately $67000)

This fine which the fans vowed to rally their team to equal it with a win in Kisumu, so the fans come in large numbers in Kisumu, where Western Stima apparently the host team turned to be the away team.

The rowdy and reckless Muho fans came in large numbers singing and beating drums in a triumphant entry at the Moi Stadium in  Kisumu, they were joined by Moses Adagala and his team.

To make matters interesting, there was no presence of Western Stima fans at the  area  1 hour before kick off.The Muhoroni fans just like the Gor and ingwe fans sang and beat the drums until the final minutes putting pressure to the host team Western Stima.

With this growing trend, the Muho fans will soon join the ranks of already eastablished  Clubs with massive fan base as Gor Mahia,AFC leopards,Thika et al.infact they are now ranked second to leading clubs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
