National men’s soccer team Harambee Stars has moved up two places in the latest World FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.
The Stanley Okumbi coached sides are now ranked 82th globally and 18th in the continent.
Neighbours Uganda also stayed put as CECAFA’s best national team in position 72, followed by Kenya while Rwanda are third after going up eight places to sit 116th globally.
Tanzania are fourth in the East African region and placed 120th in the world while Ethiopia who is Kenya’s opponent in the 2019 AFCON Qualifier closes the top five at position 121.
Brazil have returned to the top after a one-month hiatus, replacing reigning FIFA World Cup champions Germany who slipped back into second spot.
Argentina remain in third but the heavyweight trio are accompanied in the top five by two sides reaching unusually heady heights.
Egypt are Africa’s highest ranked team in the world despite slipping down one place to 25th position.
