Harambee Stars friendly match against Taifa Stars scheduled for this afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium has been cancelled.
This after consultations happened between Football Kenya Federation and Tanzania Football Federation following the death of Tanzania President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli.
In a statement, FKF said in part that “The decision has been arrived at to allow the Tanzania National Team and the Tanzania General public to mourn the sudden passing on of the late president, his Excellency, Dr. John Pombe Magufuli.”
“Football Kenya Federation wishes to extend its deepest sympathy and message of goodwill to the Tanzania Football Federation, the famiy and friends of the late president and the good people of Tanzania. May the Lord bless you with strength to sail through this tough situation,” the statement went on.
Kenya won its first two friendly matches, against Sudan 2-1 and Tanzania 1-0. Today’s match was the third and final game before stars tackle Egypt and Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
