Kenya will most likely go along with CAF to vote Salman Al Khalifa on Friday in Switzerland as the next president of world football governing body FIFA.
Asia Football Confederation (AFC) president Salman is favourite in the presidential polls that also has UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein from Jordan, ex-FIFA chief Jerome Champagne and South Africa’s Tokyo Sexwale.
The top officials of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) led by newly elected President Nick Mwendwa have categorically intimated that they will vote for Salman as per CAF decision the President said before travelling to Barcelona on his way to Zurich .
Nick Mwendwa has his eyes fixed on being more relevant internationally and as such he will “not want to rock the boat” by opposing CAF just days after being elected in an overwhelming vote where he garnered 50 out of the possible 77 votes to beat his closest challenger who got the other 27 votes.
Nick Mwendwa intends to also cultivated a good personal relationship with acting FIFA president Issa Hayatou who also doubles up as the CAF President within a short time, and all these point to Kenya going with CAF to vote Salman as the most powerful man in world football.
