The Football Kenya Federation, FKF, has unveiled Paul Put as the new coach of the national team.
Put was inaugurated on Saturday in Mombasa during the federation’s Annual General meeting.
The new manager of the Kenya national football team Harambee Stars said “he is ready 150 per cent to serve the East African nation and give his best to uplift the team”, KBC reports.
Put was chosen by the FKF after the poor performance of Stanely Okumbi who stood down to take up the role of assistant head coach.
He has been given a renewable two-year contract, although FKF chairman Nick Mwendwa would not reveal what targets must be met to extend the deal.
The 61 year old gaffer is immediate former manager at top Algerian club ASM Algiers and former coach of Burkina Faso,Gambia and Jordan.
He is remembered for steering Stallions to the 2013 Africa Nations Cup final where they went on to lose to Nigeria.
The Belgian also has some spell of controversy surrounding his relatively impressive coaching career.
As a manager of Belgian sides Geel, Lokeren and Lierse, he was banned by the Royal Belgium Football Association for his alleged involvement in the Ye Zheyun match-fixing scandal.
