Football Kenya Federation has written to FIFA and CAF pulling out the U17 women’s team from the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The federation has been unable to raise a team for the campaign as the girls are preparing for national exams this month and hence necessitating the decision.

Kenya was scheduled to take on Ethiopia between October 13 and 15, 2017 in the preliminary round.

“We have written to FIFA and CAF informing them of our situation,”

“Following consultations with the schools and the Ministry of Education officials, we have decided to withdraw our participation to allow players ample time to prepare and sit for their exams, which we also find crucial for their development,” Robert Muthomi, the FKF CEO said.

16 teams will qualify for the biennial event that will take place in Uruguay from 13th November to 1st December 2018.
