AFC Leopards woes continued to bite yet again with club acting Chairman Walter Onyino throwing in the towel.
Consequently, Embakasi branch Chairman Daniel Mule has been appointed as the acting Chair until fresh elections will be held on Saturday December 12th.
In a short text message, Onyino said he opted to step side since there were too much infighting in the club that made his work and operation untenable.
He has cited the ongoing wrangles brought by the rival group led by Mathews Opwora as his reason for stepping down. The current office bearers were elected in June 2013 to serve a three-year term which was set to end in June 2016, but it was agreed during the club’s Annual General Meeting held in June this year that
elections be held at the end of the year after the endless problems witnessed at the den.
Club acting secretary General Prof.Kadima Asava has confirmed that Mule who was the Vice Chairman will take over the mantle until when elections will be held later this year.Contacted,Mule called for calm and patience. He said with unity, the club can go far adding that all is not lost.
‘It’s unfortunate that Onyino has stepped aside. He will continue to remain a life member and I don’t think all is lost .He is still around and I’m sure he will be available to render support. This is a club that belongs to everyone. We have met so many challenges but all this will be a thing of the past.I;m calling for calm as we try
to consult with stakeholders “ Observed Mule.
Onyino who is a banker by profession has found the heat at the den too much to stand barely two months after he was mandated by members.
Onyino was elected Ingwe chairman by the club’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the end of June 2015 replacing Allan Kasavuli who resigned from the position due to the financial problems and wrangles witnessed at the club.
AFC Leopards have a tricky assignment this weekend .They will host visiting Western Stima at the Nyayo National Stadium
