Kenya FA president Sam Nyamweya has congratulated Harambee Stars for a great start in opening rounds of AFCON 2017 qualifiers heaping them with praises for fighting gallantly while playing away from home.
“It is a great start. They have made a statement that they need the support of the country. Let us
get behind Bobby Williamson and his boys,” Nyamweya said in a brief statement to the media after the match.
Kenya walked away with a valuable point away in Congo Brazzaville on Sunday 14th with a 1-1 draw that see them occupy joint top position in group E.
Stars put up a spirited fight against their fancied opponents forcing them to chase the game early after pacey winger Paul Were had put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute. Congo equalized from the spot past half hour mark after defender Jackson Saleh handled ball inside the box.
Kenya next face Zambia who settled for a barren draw against Guinea Bissau in September.
