Legendary Kenyan International keeper and one of the most qualified coaches James “Abawa” Sianga was today inducted into the prestigious Kenyan Hall of Fame in an elaborate ceremony held at the International Hotel and Tourism Institute in Nairobi.
Sianga who was accompanied with his wife, son and fellow Legends spoke emotionally on receiving the award describing it as the best ever award in his long and illustrious career.
“I am humbled and honoured today and I can say with finality it’s the first time I have been recognised as a Legend in my own country and I want to thank the organisers of the hall of Fame to continue with the momentum in years to come ”
“It saddens me that despite many years of service to this great country the current federation has decided to “dump” me at home while opportunities are given to those people who are not even qualify as long as they bootlick their masters”Sianga told Soka25east.com
Guest of Honour Duane Cummings who travelled all the way from America for the function praised the new Inductee Sianga sating “I have always waited for this great moment that I will meet this great man and Legend James Sianga it is a great moment and honour awarding inducting him on behalf of the organisers who have been doing a great job giving back to their community back in Kenya “Cummings told Soka25east.com
Sianga wife left the hall speechless as he praised the organisers for honouring her husband ‘We feel honoured like a family to have received this great honour where James has been inducted into the Hall of Fame. There is a big problem in Kenya Football leadership and something must be done to bring change and honour back to the game.I have been left at home with a man with so much football knowledge I wonder what they want me to do with him yet he has served this country honourably I feel so sad and sometimes ask myself is it really worth it”.
Sianga played locally before joining Harambee Stars are the no one keeper. After retirement he took up coaching both locally and in Tanzania. He has been at the forefront of narturing young talents across the country.
