Meanwhile rebounding Mathare United crushed Ushuru at Nyayo Stadium as Chemelil Sugar prevailed upon visiting Sony Sugar in the two league matches held on Saturday.
Chemelil Sugar 1-0 SonySugar (Chemelil Stadium)
Chemelil Sugar extended their winning run to four games on Saturday as they beat Sony Sugar to avenge the 1-0 loss they suffered in the first leg. This was also Chemelil’s fourth straight game with a clean sheet.
Former Bandari forward Victor Majid struck in the 23rd minute after being set up by Apollo Onyango to end the affair.
Mathare United 3-1 Ushuru (Nyayo Stadium)
Mathare midfielder Whyvonne Isuza scored a double in this match, his first coming in the eighth minute from close range.
Liberian striker Roosevelt Blatty levelled matters for the taxmen in the 24th minute as the two sides continued to exchange raids.
Isuza completed his double 12 minutes later after latching on to a loose ball spilled by Ushuru goalkeeper Barnabas Tiema to fire home with aplomb.
Speedy winger Harrison Mwendwa then put the icing on the cake for Mathare on 59 minutes with an impressive long-range solo effort. The result marked Mathare’s second win in a row after a stuttering five-game winless streak.
Tusker 1-0 Kakamega Homeboyz (Afraha Stadium)
Homeboyz had done well to maintain a goalless score by half time, but they capitulated in the 64th minute when Danson Kago got the best of the tax men’s goalkeeper Michael Wanyika after being set up by Cersidy Lumumba.
Tusker’s George Mandela received a second yellow card in the 84th minute and was consequently given his matching orders.
Western Stima 3-0 Muhoroni Youth (Moi Stadium)
Fredrick Shimonyo sparked off the Western Stima rout in the 40th minute after Muhoroni goalkeeper Timothy Igweta had failed to clear an attack led by midfielder Wesley Kemboi.
Kennedy Muguna doubled the scores for the power men in the 53rd minute before veteran striker Francis Ochola claimed the last goal that looked to have gone in with the help of a Muhoroni touch on 80 minutes.
Sofapaka 0-1 Posta Rangers (Ruaraka ground)
After two months on the sidelines due to injury, striker Timothy Otieno returned to steer Posta Rangers to victory with a 25th minute goal that ended Sofapaka’s fine two-match winning streak.
It was Rangers’ first win in eight games, setting up an encouraging backdrop as they prepare to face former champions Ulinzi Stars in their next match.
AFC Leopards 0-0 City Stars (Afraha Stadium)
Goalkeeper Lucas Indeche returned between the sticks for Ingwe after missing in action since the beginning of the second leg with a knee injury. Nothing really to talk about – as the final outcome shows.
