By Samuel Gacharira,
The battle is on and the swords have been drawn. With four matches to go, the title race is destined to go down to the wire while the optimism levels among relegation threatened sides have hit an all-time high with the slogan being “it is not over until it is over”. The quest for a top 8 finish by sides that lie in the middle of the log has also gone a notch higher and undoubtedly this homestretch is not for the faint at heart.
Friday
This weekend’s action will be ushered in by an exciting tie set for Friday afternoon at Chemelil Stadium in Awasi where Chemelil Sugar will square it off against Ulinzi Stars. The visiting side will look to continue with their fine run and collect maximum points that will step up their pursuit for a third place finish.
Saturday
A double header at the Nyayo National Stadium will see a Mathare United side that has been on the rise host a lackluster Tusker that has gone five games without a win. Later, league leaders Gor Mahia will battle it out with 15th placed Nairobi City Stars at the same venue. Meanwhile in Kisumu, Western Stima will host Rishadi Shedu’s KCB who are still fighting for survival despite being placed 14th on the log. A middle of the table clash pitting KRA who have recently been on a free fall against 11th placed Muhoroni will be staged at the Muhoroni Stadium.
Sunday
AFC Leopards will hope their quarter final victory over Tusker in the GOtv Shield last weekend will help them turn around their league fortunes. They face bottom placed Nakuru All Stars at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Runners up Sofapaka have a tricky fixture at Awendo where they face 9th placed Sony Sugar that boasts of a very good record at home. In Thika, 13th placed Bandari will look to steady their ship and completely sail away from the relegation zone when they play 6th placed Thika United.
