KPL management has postponed week 31 matches which were sloted for this coming weekend due to the prevailing political climate in the country.

The fixtures have been rescheduled for Tuesday, 14 November 2017.

Kenya staged fresh presidential elections Thursday amidst high tension in several parts of the country.

Week 32 ties will however go on as planned on Wednesday 1, November 2017.

“KPL will continue to monitor the situation and stay in contact with the relevant security agencies so as to ensure the safety and welfare of players, technical staff, referees, fans and other stakeholders in the remaining rounds of matches,” KPL statement reads.

They will request Football Kenya Federation to surrender one FIFA weekend to help clear the remaining four rounds of matches.

“However, this is not guaranteed as FKF had earlier this year stated that they intend to make use of all FIFA dates,” FKF adds.

2017 KPL has already been decided with Gor Mahia being confirmed champions for the 16th time.

The focus shifts to the relegation battle where four teams are fighting for their topflight status.
