Mathare end Tusker’s free-scoring run
Mathare United beat Tusker 1-0 at City Stadium on Friday to end the brewers’ impressive free-scoring, three-match winning run.
Former Tusker man Noah Abich scored a trademark free kick minutes to the half time break.
Tusker had scored a scary 14 goals in their last three games heading into Friday’s encounter and were favourites to win the match.
But Mathare had other ideas in this encounter between two teams that knew each other well.

Mungai Kiongera scored a hat trick to lead KCB past Thika United in five-goal trailer at Thika County Stadium KCB raced to a three-goal lead thanks to Mungai Kiongera’s hat trick. The former Gor Mahia forward opened his account for KCB with a
cool taken penalty after a bright start by the bankers.
He added his second on 37 minutes, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box to nod home. He was at it again early in the second half, driving explosively into Thika’s danger area to rifle the ball into the net on 53 minutes and bring up his hat trick and sixth goal of the season.
Home side scored through Ray Omondi and Mwinyi kibwani to mount a comeback but the bankers withstood the pressure to win the match.
Western Stima 0-2 Sony Sugar (Moi Stadium)
Recovering Sony Sugar claimed their second successive win after a difficult period as they snapped Stima’s four-game unbeaten run.
All the decisive action happened in an action packed second half.
Samuel Onyonga rose high to nod home Justine Monda’s corner before club faithful Marwa Chamberi came off the bench to double Sony’s lead late, late in the match.
Stima were always in this duel but for a goal. Mid-season acquisition, veteran Mike Baraza came close in the first half while club’s in form forward Baron Oketch hit the post with a headed effort in the second
half.

Ulinzi Stars 3-2 Nakuru All Stars (Afraha Stadium)
Kenya Defence Forces side Ulinzi Stars staged a dramatic fight back to win at home. They were down two goals at half time.
Bebeto Lwamba and John Ndirangu shocked the soldiers with a goal each to hand underdogs Nakuru an unlikely lead.
But the soldiers came back in the second half an engineering side to stage an impressive come back. Scoring through John Nairuka 15 minutes into the second half before debutant Enos Ochieng claimed a brace in the space of 10 minutes.
Nakuru All Stars’s regular Amon Muchiri was given a red card for dangerous play late in the match.
Chemelil Sugar 0-2 Muhoroni Youth (Moi Stadium)
Muhoroni Youth proved again they were not a team to be taken lightly scoring either side of the break to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches, four of them victories.
Francis Ocholla got the first goal 10 minutes into the match before George Mandela made sure of all three points, emphatically shaking the net minutes before the end.
