Gor Mahia take on Nakumatt at Nyayo Stadium Sunday in a Kenyan Premier League tie which will mark Dylan Kerr’s first competitive outing as K’Ogalo coach.

It will be first time the two teams clash in the Kenya’s topflight, but the Malta-born English gaffer, who is barely a month old in the hot seat, is rearing to go.

Having had sufficient time to rest and train after leading the 15-times champions against Everton in a high profile friendly in Tanzania on 13th July, the former Simba SC coach says they are ready to begin the new journey.

Against the Sunday opponents, Kerr, nicknamed “Ker” by the loyal Gor fans, believes it is how they will cease the moment that will make the difference.

“It’s how we play and perform on the day that matters after our training these past 10 days I believe we are ready to start the fixtures,” the former Leads, Sheffield, Reading and Burnley defender said.

The impressive display against fancied Everton in which they managed a goal despite 2-1 loss has raised expectations, with fans salivating for a replication or better in the KPL where they have been unconvincing.

Gor are winless since Kerr’s predecessor Brazilian Jose Marcelo Ferreira “Ze Maria” left for greener pastures in Albania with KF Tirana, stretching the dry spell to four matches.

Kerr is a live to the fans’ high hopes but, he says it will not be a walk in the park as everyone wants to beat Gor Mahia.

“We all want instant results players, chairman, committee members but most of all the fans, but as you know football is not easy especially when everyone wants to win against Gor Mahia,” Kerr added.

The 50-year-old has been seen sampling his new surroundings, taking “selfies” in the streets of Nairobi and he admits he has enjoyed his stay so far.

“Players have been magnificent from day one and the stuffs are amazing, hardworking people and my love of Nairobi, the culture and Ugali has been amazing,” he concluded.

Gor are placed third in the KPL standings on 28 points – one off joint leaders Ulinzi Stars and Posta Rangers. A win could see they return top of the log.
