Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat has reportedly escaped unhurt as armed robbers stormed Engen garage on Tuesday morning.
According to the Sunday World, the 26-year-old was held at gunpoint as the raid took place at the store north of Johannesburg. The robbers made off with his watch and wallets.
The six robbers who were armed with AK-47 rifles are said to have stormed the outlet which had three shoppers at that time in an incidence where the gunmen forcibly extracted money from an ATM.
Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa later confirmed the incidence stating that the Zimbabwean international was fine.
“I spoke to him not so long ago and is he also happy to have escaped with his life. I asked him and he said he was going to put in petrol and buy some minor stuff, including prepaid electricity.”
Billiat will miss the Down’s game aganist Chippa United later toninght as he has an injury.Previously the player has been linked with moves overseas.
