Simba SC day celebrations climaxed at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Monday with a 4-0 annihilation of guests from Kenya , AFC Leopards, in a friendly.

Ibrahim Ajib opened the scoring in the 38th minute for a slim 1-0 lead at half time. Ajib grabbed a brace in the 58th minute before Shiza Kichuja made it 3-0 in the 66th minute.

Simba were not done yet and nine minutes to stoppage time, new signing Laudit Mavugo opened his account at ‘Msimbazi Red’ with the last nail on Ingwe’s coffin to make it 4-0.

Speaking after the match, former Simba striker Paul Kiongera, who played the entire game for Leopards, expressed confidence the Coach Omog’s side can challenge for the league title this season;

‘Simba have a good team. We have had players who haven’t been match fit for a while,’ Kiongera said.

‘If Simba pull up their socks this season they can surely win the Vodacon Premier League.’ He added.

Simba have not won the league for ages now and are living in the shadows of arch rivals and reigning champions Yanga SC.
