Former Simba SC forward Paul Mungai Kiongera has completed a return back to Kenya’s SportPesa Premier League.
Kiongera inked a one year deal with 13-time champions AFC Leopards to join the den after lengthy negotiations that concluded on Monday this week.
Simba (Tanzania) did not renew Kiongera’s two year contract at the expiry of the difficult stay for the Kenyan international at the Dar giants that was dogged by a nagging knee injury.
He was looned back to his parent club KCB in the 2015 season after a successful surgery in India – he scored 11 goals for the bankers before spending the last six months of his contract with Simba.
His arrival could signal the end of June transfer business for head coach Ivan Minnaert who already signed more players including defenders Charles Bruno and Edwin Wafula, midfielders Bernard Mang’oli, Harun Nyakha and John Ndirangu, goalkeeper Ian Otieno and Rayon Sport duo of Emmanuel Imanishimiwe and Ismailia Diarra, both who should be confirmed in next coming days before the window closes on July 2.
Kiongera is expected to help lift goalscoring burden on Kepha Aswani, or take it up altogether with the latter negotiating a move to Omani club Al Nasr.
