WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CHARITY SHIELD
The tournament has been played since 1967 to officially open the League in the County and it has seen excellent games being played in this old tournament.
In 2003 the tournament was officially named Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu Memorial Cup to honour one of the great sons in the football arena of this country.
I will give you some of the most exciting finals of the Charity Shields since 1967.
In total there have been 49 titles shared among the winners and the 49 are divided as follows:

THE LAST TIME THE FOUR TEAMS PLAYED IN THE FIANL OF THE CHARITY SHIELD
GREEN BUFFALOES
The last time Green Buffaloes played the final of the Charity Shield was in 2010 where they beat Zesco United 1-0. They would be hoping they can do this again, beat Zanaco to force a final either with Zesco or Power Dynamos.
ZANACO
The last time Zanaco played in the final of the Charity Shield was in 2013 when they lost to Power Dynamos 2-1 and Zanaco will be hoping to win this one and try to correct the amends and win the Shield which they last won in 2006 when they beat 2006 Forest Rangers 1-0.
POWER DYNAMOS
Power Dynamos played the final in 2013 where they beat ZANACO 2-1 and if they beat ZESCO they will be hoping tin the shield for the sixth time to go place below Kabwe Warriors who have won it seven times.
ZESCO
Zesco are the defending champions of the Shield which they won in 2015 after beating Nkana 3-1 and they entertain Power Dynamos in the Copperbelt derby which is expected to have sparks. The winner of this encounter will either play GBFC or ZANACO in the final.
