The 16-team league came to a close on Sunday, November 1,2015 with Gor Mahia FC being crowned champions for a record 15 times after nine months of breakneck, high intensity action.
K’Ogalo won the third title on the trot in a spectacular fashion amassing a record 78 points from 24 wins, 6 draws and zero loss – emulating the invincible squad of 1976.
Ulinzi Stars finished distant second with 58 points, 20 points off the champions after managing 17 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses.
240 games were played over 30 rounds during the period with a total of 534 goals being scored, 83 more than last season’s tally, with a similar number being conceded.The champions scored the highest number of goals (60) which constitutes 25% of the total goals scored, with relegated Nakuru All Stars conceding the most (58).
Ushuru FC scored the least number of goals (22) despite finishing in the top 8 position while Mathare United reclaimed the kings of draws tag from Ulinzi with identical 15 draws.
There were 165 wins same as losses and 75 draws. The goal-full season saw Jesse Jackson Were of Tusker FC run away with the golden boot scoring 22 goals, 4 less than all time KPL scoring record set 39 years ago by Maurice “Sonyi” Ochieng’ of Gor Mahia.
Michael Olunga of Gor came second in the race with 19 goals followed by John Makwata of Ulinzi Stars who netted 14 times.
