Chemelil and Gor Mahia battled to a nil nil scoreline in their opening league tie played on Wednesday 17 at Moi Stadium,Kisumu.
The first half was cagey with few and rare real scoring chances coming from both ends. K’Ogalo keeper generally remained untested in the whole stanza.
Enock Agwanda forced Chemelil keeper Samuel Odhiambo to a good catch in the 9th minute from Shakava’s speculative long pass from the mid. George Odhiambo then missed from inside the box, blasting over the bar Karim’s corner in the 28th minute.
Agwanda was closely marked and isolated reducing his effectiveness as lone striker upfront.
Hillary Echesa, Stephen Wakanya and Victor Majid were all wasteful with their efforts on Chemelil’s side.
On resumption, Agwanda wasted Francis Kahata’s through pass in the 59th minute, while on the other end Hillary Echesa forced Jerry to a fine save in the 66th minute.
Frank Nuttall made two changes, pulling out Agwanda for Jacob Keli, Eric Ouma for Ronald Omino and later Edmond Murai came on for Collins Okoth.
Chemelil managed to beat Gor’s high line defense two but on each occasion Jerry came out early to clear.
The Millers managed to deal well with Gor’s long floated balls from the wing back as they lacked height in attack.
Gor will next face Rangers FC while, Chemelil travels to Mombasa to face Bandari over the weekend.
