The 18 Kenyan Premier League clubs have up-to 30th June 2018 to submit documents for the mandatory Caf licensing evaluation.

The clubs will be assessed on five different criteria namely administration and personnel, club infrastructure, finance and legal and sporting.

Clubs which will score less than 50% after the evaluation process will get relegated to a lower league, while those will score between 50% and 69%, will be issued with a provisional license.

Clubs scoring 70% and above will be issued with a full license.

“The club licensing will be conducted in a free and fair manner by an independent body, First Instance Body, comprising of Dr. Edwin Wamukoya, Lilian Nzile, Paul Makumi, Paul Ochieng’, and Peter Karanja,” KPL assured.

Contents of documents submitted by clubs will remain private and confidential as the body is bound by a non-disclosure agreement.

During the first evaluation process which ended last year, three clubs; Sofapaka, Muhoroni Youth and Thika were relegated to the National Super League for failing the licensing test, however, upon a successful appeal they were all reinstated.

Muhoroni were ultimately relegated after finishing last at the end of the season. The club refused to accept their new status and still have a pending case challenging the same in the Kenyan courts.
