Second placed Tusker visit KCB at the City Stadium in a bid to narrow the gap between them and league leaders Gor Mahia. That looks unlikely judging from their midweek performance against Mathare United where they needed an own goal to share the spoils.
Francis Kimanzi is a man who is under pressure to deliver the KPL title to the breweries headquarters at Ruaraka. The signing of Eugene Asike is testimony that he is not taking any chances in his quest for league glory. In fact, it is a move in the right direction given that his defence has already conceded 12 goals in only 11 games played so far.
In spite of a poor start by the men in green, hope is not lost. Improvement has been noted over the last three games and morale is high ahead of this duel.A win is a possible result.
Form over the last five games
KCB | DDDLL |
TUSKER | DWWWL |
It is interesting to note that going into this fixture Tusker holds an unbeaten record over KCB in the league. More exciting is the fact that KCB’s central defenders Mark Odhiambo and Kevin “Gaza” Omondi will be lining up against their former employers.
Joint league top scorer Jesse Were will relish an opportunity to lead from the front and increase his goal tally that currently stands at 7.Asike is highly unlikely to feature against his former team due to lack of match fitness while Farouk Shikhalo is expected to man the posts in the absence of Duncan Ochieng’.
The bankers will welcome back Tirus Omondi from national duty while assistant coach Elvis Ayany will lead the dugout in place of the recuperating manager Rishadi Shedu.
Kickoff is at 1500hrs EAT on Sunday.
