By Bonface Osano,
Tusker’s Ruaraka Grounds will on Sunday 31st be the venue of Kenya Premier League weekend’s pivotal match.
The top of the table encounter between two giants Sofapaka SC and Ulinzi Stars promises nothing short of fireworks, a true measure of the quality in KPL.
The two sides are joint second in the log with 24 points and are only separated by the first letters of their names. A win for either of the two sides will narrow the gap at the top to six points.
The 2009 champions Sofapaka also called “Batoto Ba Mungu” renaissance is quite evident after a slow start to the season and their last three wins on the trot is a clear testament of side aiming for the top honors.
Of the three wins, the 2-1 dismissing of Tusker FC over the weekend demonstrated the tactical prowess of head Coach Sam Timbe who re deployed his key men on the field to easily lock the Brewers out of the match, something Ulinzi Stars should be prepared for. Notable players were defender Fally Mulumba who played as a defensive midfielder and Maurice Odipo who manned the left full back position.
Fiston Abdul Razak, Ekaliani Ndolo, John Baraza and Enoch Agwanda will be some of the key men on the Sofapaka side.
Ulinzi Stars has been boosted by the return of first choice keeper James Saruni who limped off with an injury in their 2-1 over Mathare United on Wednesday.
“He is fine and has recovered very well.
It was just a strain on his knee but we
have managed to look at it well. Luckily,
there was no injury to the muscles or the
tendons and he will be available to start.”

John Makwata will be hunting for his 8th goal or more to join Meddie Kagere, Jacob Keli and Ali Abondo at the top of scorers chart.
Head to head
In the last six matches, this clash has registered equal number of draws as wins with Sofapaka recording two victories against Ulinzi’s one.
The match will kick off at 1:30PM EAT and will be beamed live a cross Africa on your world of Champions Supersport Channel 219.
