KPL ROUND 11 PREVIEW: W.Stima hope to stop Gor Mahia unbeaten run as the ghost of relegation taunts AllStars and City Stars

By Samuel Gacharira,

Saturday 9th May

Muhoroni Youth vs. City Stars (Muhoroni Stadium)

For a team that has its sight set on a Top 8 finish this campaign, their current form has been inconsistent only managing 2 wins, 4 draws and as many losses for a total haul of 10 points. Clearly, Muhoroni Youth will fancy a win against lowly placed City Stars when they host them at Muhoroni. However Paul Nkatta’s side are very unpredictable and they will look to build on their barren draw against Sofapaka and at least earn a point on the road for the first time this season.

Sunday 10th May

Sony Sugar vs. KCB (Awendo Green Stadium)

Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno described his side’s 5-1 loss to AFC Leopards as his worst in his entire coaching career. Bad it was but worse was the 1-0 home loss to former employers Gor Mahia barely five days later. It has been a turbulent period for the millers but they can turn around their fortunes against the bankers at Awendo. However they come up against a fast improving KCB side that managed to hold second placed Thika United to a 1-1 draw at Thika last weekend.

Western Stima vs. Gor Mahia (Moi Stadium, Kisumu)

For the very first time this year, Kisumu will be treated to yet another potential episode of the Kagere-Olunga show from the Gor Mahia forwards who already have 11 goals between them. High flying K’Ogalo travel to the lakeside city to face 4th placed Western Stima. The league leaders will look to cushion their lead at the top of the log. That notwithstanding,Henry Omino will be out to blemish the spotless run that the defending champions are enjoying as well as narrow the gap between them.

Ushuru vs. Nakuru All Stars (Nyayo National Stadium)

For Nakuru All Stars, the ghost of relegation still continues to haunt them in only their second season in the top flight. However, a redemption opportunity presents itself this weekend in the shape of peers Ushuru who were promoted alongside them in 2014.Ken Kenyatta will hope that his misfiring forwards will end their goal drought well aware that three points will push them to mid table.
