Soka25east picks out the star performers following an action packed week that saw 21 goals scored as well as significant changes on the top half of the table.
AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars ascend to the top four in that order behind league leaders Gor Mahia who extended their lead at the summit of the log to nine points after a 5-0 demolition of basement club Nakuru All Stars.
Taking the gloves is veteran Zachariah Onyango. KCB’s rare win against Tusker would not have been possible without Onyango’s string of important saves that ensured they put an end to their winless streak in recent weeks.
The first of the three man defence is Ingwe’s Jackson Saleh who put up yet another sturdy display to ensure his side kept a clean sheet. He thumped in the second goal when he rose highest to head home from Abdallah Juma’s corner.
Next up is Harun Shakava who ensured the league leaders kept the score line blank and even had the luxury of making forays upfront connecting with Ali Abondo’s corner to complete the 5-0 rout against the bottom placed team.
Abouba Sibomana completes the back three after a commanding defensive showing combined with a powerful display down the left flank consequently grabbing two assists.
In midfield, Victor Abondo continued his good run of form producing yet another master class for K’Ogalo in the process netting his eighth goal of the season and an assist. The slum boys will have to thank Eric Johanna for their fourth win of the season. The prodigy was at the heart of everything positive from the 8th placed team scoring two goals of his own.Ulinzi Stars maintained their unbeaten record against Thika United with Mark Makwatta coming off the bench to secure three points for the soldiers as well as increase his goal tally to seven.
On the right flank is Jacob Keli who scored the opening goal which topped off a wonderful individual performance on the day.Abdulrazak Fiston ended a week in which there was much speculation about his future by producing a carbon copy of his midweek exploits against Thika United, this time stinging Sony Sugar with a brace, to propel Sofapaka to third place on the log. He lines up on the left wing.
Further forward is Michael Olunga who had a big say in Gor Mahia’s victory, scoring and earning a penalty that was converted. Meddie Kagere was the headline performer perhaps bagging the goal of the season award courtesy of his wonder goal to go joint top on the race for the Golden Boot with eight goals to his credit.
