By Bonface Osano,
Ugandan keeper Allan Owiny formerly with Kenyan Premier League side Muhoroni Youth has joined Sony Sugar FC on a one year deal.
The highly rated keeper was in Awendo on Tuesday to finalize the move putting to an end weeks of speculations on his next destination after declining to renew his contract with the Awasi side.
“The deal is better than what I had at Muhoroni. Sony needed my services and I also wanted a new challenge so the decision to join them was not a hard one for me.” Owiny toldSoka25east.com
The 25 years old custodian moved to Muhoroni Youth mid 2014 season from Ugandan giants URA FC in a big money move worth about 4000 dollars, helping the Francis Baraza coached side to a top eight finish in the league, their best in KPL history.
His stay at the club however became rocky after he fell out with the club chairman Moses Adagala and it was just a matter of time before he moved as his starting role in the squad had been taken by second choice keeper Daniel Kiptoo.
Owiny will replace unpredictable Lucas Indeche who was dropped last week from Sony squad after a string of poor displays in the first leg of the league as coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno seeks a lasting solution to his un characteristically leaking defense.
The new acquisition will have to fight it out with experienced Jirous Odira who has also been shaky between the posts for the number one jersey.
In another transfer news, Nakumatt FC target, the gifted left full back Aboud Omar met Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier yesterday for a possible move to the reigning KPL champions, the player was presented with a proposal to ponder over as offers continue to flow his way with a Zambian club also reported to be interested in his services.
Aboud is a free agent after being released by Tusker FC.
