By Samuel Gacharira,
Following a week that was laden with qualifiers and international friendlies, league action resumes this weekend with a couple of exciting ties on the card.
Going into this round, the puzzle on who will bag the title still remains unsolved while mid-table sides keep up the hustle for a Top 8 placing. With only four matches remaining, relegation threatened sides cannot afford to drop points since this can easily book them a place in next season’s second tier.
Thursday
Ushuru FC(formerly known as KRA) will look to end their six match losing streak when they visit second placed Sofapaka at the Machakos Stadium. The hosts who are four points behind the league leaders are well aware that anything less a win will gift Gor Mahia an upper hand in the title race. The visitors’ will miss the services of Joseph Mulume who is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards
Friday
AFC Leopards will have to forget their off the pitch standoff with the KPL management when they host Thika United at the City Stadium. Both sides will be going for a win since three points will ensure they are in the Top 8 bracket.
Saturday
Top Fry All Stars will look to ease their relegation woes when the visit 13th placed Bandari at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium. A loss for the visitors would definitely seal their fate and condemn them to the chop.
In Nakuru, high riding Ulinzi Stars welcome Henry Omino’s Western Stima as they look to consolidate their top four position in the log. The visitors will hope to leave the Afraha Stadium with three points which will step up their pursuit for a Top 8 finish.
Sunday
Relegation threatened Nairobi City Stars will head to the impregnable Awendo Green Stadium without dependable midfielder Nelson Marasowe who is suspended after receiving a red card in their last league match. They face a Sony Sugar side that is determined to secure a Top 8 finish at all costs.
League leaders Gor Mahia will look to extend their lead on top of the table when they host tenth placed Mathare United at the City Stadium. They will however be without Musa Mohammed who has accumulated five yellow cards thus is suspended for this tie.
The Moi International Sports Centre (Kasarani) is set to host a double header. In the first match, 14th placed KCB will lock horns with Chemelil Sugar as they look to vacate the lower reaches of the standings .Later on, third placed Tusker will look to keep their title hopes alive when they host Muhoroni Sugar. Luke Ochieng’ will be unavailable for the hosts after accumulating five yellow cards.
