Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have signed left full back Isaac “Lefty” Kipyegon from Zoo FC on a three-year deal.

Kipyegon recently won regional CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup with Harambee Stars even though he did not find play time.

Gor opted for his signature after failing to agree transfer fee with Sofapaka’s Wesley Onguso Arasa.

Onguso was the preferred choice in the full back role for coach Paul Put the entire tournament.

“Onguso insisted on one million transfer fee so the deal flopped because we were not ready to part with such a huge sum for a defender,” a source at Gor told Soka25east.

Meanwhile Stephen Waruru has confirmed joining 2009 KPL champions Sofapaka after ending his stay with Ulinzi Stars.

“It’s official now I am a Sofapaka player. God bless me in my new football life outside the Army,” Waruru, who scored 13 goals in the 2017 KPL season, posted on Facebook.

The Kenyan international further explained to Soka25east that he chose not to renew his contract with the Kenya Defense Forces on compassionate grounds to pursue football full time.

“I just finished my contract and I didn’t want to renew. At Ulinzi we sign employment contract as a soldier and not a football contract.”

In other news former champions AFC Leopards have roped in youthful midfielder Jeffrey Okaka from Chemelil Sugar as they continue to strengthen their team for next year.

Apart from aiming to break 20-year wait for KPL glory, Leopards will also represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup next year.
