AFC Leopards buried a painful nine-match winless streak with a hard fought 1-0 win away to Bandari F.C in the Kenyan Premier League at Mbaraki Stadium Saturday.
Defending champions Tusker went down by a similar margin in the hands of the weeping boys Western Stima at Moi Stadium, Kusimu Friday.
At the same time, Posta Rangers edged Nzoia Sugar 2-1 at Ruaraka Grounds to go joint top of the KPL table standings with Ulinzi Stars who overpowered Nakumatt by a similar margin at the same venue Saturday.
In Mombasa, Substitute Marcelus Ingotsi delivered a last gasp blow to the Dockers, latching onto a poor back pass from defender Fally Mulumba before coolly slotting in past advancing goalkeeper Wilson Obungu for the lone goal.
The invaluable win was Coach Robert Matano’s first in his new stint at the 12-time Kenyan champions.
The Lion, as Matano is famously known, has been out for some time after parting ways with Ulinzi Stars, he has been recovering after a long illness.
Ulinzi went home all smiles after another stoppage time heroics of defender Omar Mbogi, who headed home a poor clearance for the winning goal.
Harambee Stars international Samuel Onyango had put Soldiers in the lead in the 47th minute but speedy winger Joshua Oyoo restored parity in the 59th minute immediately after the breather.
Ulinzi are not top of the log on twenty nine points same as Posta Rangers, who have inferior goal difference.
