Posta Rangers edged 10-man Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 to storm to the helm of the Kenyan Premier League at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru Saturday.

The mail-men displaced 15-times Champions Gor Mahia who were held to a barren draw by the defending champions Tusker at the same venue.

Joseph Mbugi netted a penalty in the 40th minute after defender Pascal Ogweno handled in the box for the lone goal.

Ogweno was sent off for the incident and the newbies had to make do with a man less for the whole of the second half.

Posta under the tutelage of ex Kenyan international Sammy Omollo “Pamzo” remain unscathed in six outings and are now top of the log with 14 points followed by Gor with a point less.

Sharks, who have now lost 4 of their past 6 matches are placed 14th in the 18-team league standings with 6 points.

Zoo Kericho picked the first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against fellow league debutants Nzoia United at the Kericho Green Stadium on Saturday.

Prior to the fixture, Zoo had not scored or won a match in the Kenyan topflight.

Lawrence Juma put the visitors in front in the 24th minute – drilling home a loose ball after Brian Otieno’s header was parried away by keeper.

Earlier in the 18th minute Zoo’s keeper Vincent Misikhu denied Edwin Wafula from the spot.

Mike Madoya leveled for Zoo – scoring the team’s first season goal in the 35th minute.

Zoo remain rooted at the bottom of the log with a single point. While Nzoia are 8th with eight points.

Muhoroni Youth moved to top ten on the log with a deserved 2-0 win over Sony Sugar in Muhoroni on Saturday.

The Cane Cutters came into the duel smarting from a 3-0 thrashing in their last outing against Bandari in Mombasa, Sony on the other hand lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia in Kisumu.

Robert Ouma curled home a beautiful free-kick to break the deadlock in the 9th minute.

Idris Kityo made it 2-0 four minutes to the breather after a lovely interchange of passes.

The third loss for Sony leave them 11th on the log with seven points.

Nukumatt F.C handed Western Stima a 2-0 hiding at the Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday.

Kepha Aswani and Peter Nzuki scored for the league new entrants in each half to hand them second win of the season.

Nakumatt are placed 9th with 7 points in the table standings, while Stima who have only won once this season are second from bottom with five points.

Third placed Sofapaka were held to a barren draw by 12th placed KK Homeboyz at the Camp Toyoyo grounds, Jericho.
