Gor Mahia manager Dylan Kerr is pleased with yesterday’s 2-1 win over Muhoroni Youth in the Kenyan Premier League at Moi Stadium, Kisumu Saturday.

“It was a good win under the circumstances of elections and players not training,” the Malta-born Englishman told Soka25east.

Many teams have found it challenging to adhere to their normal training routines since the General Elections on 8th August over safety concerns.

KPL also rescheduled round 20 and 21 fixtures to allow pockets of unrest in the country cool further throwing their plans into disarray.

In the tie, which Gor bossed with ease, Timothy Otieno grabbed a brace to seal the win, which was Kerr’s fourth on the trot since succeeding Ze Maria in June.

Missed opportunities

Kerr is however concerned they couldn’t convert the countless glaring charges in front of goal.

“Scoring frustrates me, the fans and the players because we do every day but, it’s something you are taught early years technical development like all top strikers.”

Rwandan forward Jacques Tuyisenge was the guiltiest – wasting numerous begging chances.

This got Muhoroni back into the game through Robert Odenyu, who pulled one back in the 86th minute and create a pressure cooker last minutes.

However, K’Ogalo survived the late onslaught and secured the three points which saw them become the first team to hit the 40 points mark this season.

Gor also opened a healthy six-point gap between them and second placed Sofapaka.

Sandro Fantoni absence

Kerr cleared the air over the absence of his physical trainer Sandro Fantoni who didn’t make the Kisumu trip saying he remained behind to train the reserve team.

“Sandro is good and stayed with the players who did not travel as we have two important games this next week.”
