Sofapaka emphatically thumped Chemelil Sugar 4-1 on Sunday to keep runaway Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia on toes in the title race.

The “Baba Ba Mungu” cut Gor’s lead to six points – shaping the title chase into a two horse race.

Early pace setters Posta Rangers and defending champions Tusker FC have continued to drop down the perking order and are as good as out of the race for this season’s crown.

In the match played at Narok Stadium, on-form Umaru Kasumba grabbed a hat-trick with Ezekiel Okare scoring the other for the 4-1 rout.

Collins Neto netted the visitors’ consolation.

The 2009 champions took their tally in the second position to 41 points – six behind Gor, who have played a match less.

Sofapaka’s next assignment will be a midweek clash against Ulinzi Stars, while Gor will face Chemelil during the same period.
