Uganda international Godfrey Walusimbi is yet to return to Gor Mahia’s fold since the international break ended on Tuesday.

Gor are preparing for Saturday’s Kenyan Premier League match day eight fixture against strugglers Vihiga United at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.

Walusimbi played two build-ups with the Uganda Cranes against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday and Malawi Tuesday.

Before he left for international duty, the former SC Villa Jogoo left back, refused to travel with Gor to Tunis for their CAF Champions League match against Esperance de Tunis over a balance of Kshs 1m part of his Kshs 3m sign on fee after renewing his contract in February.

His absence proved costly as the Kenyan giants went down 1-0 against the North Africans with the lone goal emanating from the right channel.

“We briefly talked about the issue of Walusimbi as Executive and we agreed that he will be paid the balance when money is available,” club’s treasurer Sally Bolo told Soka25east.

“All their salaries have been paid except for this month as we normally pay them on 5th,” She added.

Walusimbi vowed not to play or attend training unless he is paid in full.

Meanwhile, Gor’s English coach Dylan Kerr is expecting a tough match against newbies Vihiga, who are winless in seven outings and are second from bottom.

“We played U20 national team in a friendly yesterday (Wednesday) and we lost 2-0; everybody wants to do well against Gor Mahia because they want to show that they got ability and they can complete and that will be same with Vihiga,” Kerr said.

Gor have had a near perfect start to the season and are yet to lose in six matches. They top the 18-team league with 16 points with a game at hand.

It will be the first time they meet Vihiga in the Kenya’s topflight.

“Everybody wants to be the first team to beat Gor this year so whichever team you play they are going to make it tough; I don’t know much about them but the good thing is we are back to Kisumu.”

It will be the first time this season Gor will be playing in the lake side city where they enjoy maniac support.

Gor are scheduled to play Supersport United next week Sunday in Machakos in the CAF Confederations Cup playoffs first leg; the aggregate winner books a place in the competition’s group phase.
