Gor Mahia return to Kenyan Premier League action as they play week two catch-up match against Zoo at Kericho’s Green Stadium Thursday.
K’Ogalo were engaged in the African Champions League preliminary round where they beat visiting Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarianos 2-0 at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos Saturday.
The return match will be on 21st February 2018 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea with the aggregate winner proceeding to the first round.
Gor, who are the defending KPL champions, thumped cash strapped Nakumatt 4-0 in their KPL opener and will be angling for season’s first maximum points on the road against unpredictable Zoo.
Speaking to Soka25east, coach Dylan Kerr hinted at rotating his squad in the Thursday duel to give fringe players a chance to prove why they should be starting games.
“We have so many players who sometimes won’t start a game and this will give them the opportunity to show if they want to wear the green and white of Gor Mahia.
“My focus is always on the league but I believe we have a good squad to rotate.
“It would be against my principles if I don’t give players who show me daily in training what they can do not to see how they can compete in the KPL,” the Malta-born Briton said.
Gor and Zoo have met twice before in the topflight with Gor winning once and drawing the other.
Zoo commenced their season with a heavy 4-2 loss to Ulinzi Stars and will be eying a better show against a free scoring and experienced Gor.
After the match that will be LIVE on KTN starting 4PM local time, Gor will return to Nairobi and depart for Malabo via Ethiopia Monday.
Meanwhile, AFC Leopards, who were scheduled to take on Wazito in another rescheduled match at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos Thursday have postponed the fixture to give them enough rest.
Leopards were also on continental duty – drawing 1-1 against Madagascar’s FOSA Juniors in the CAF Confederations Cup at Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium Sunday and will be traveling to the Island nation Monday for the reverse leg.
