19 year old Ipswich Town midfielder Kundai Benyu has been called to Zimbabwe senior national team camp in preparation for AFCON 2019 qualifier against Liberia.

The England born teenage who also qualifies to play for the Three Lions, that’s English National Team could be arriving in Zimbabwe to join the rest of the team coming to camp.

The club website has confirmed the call up and have indicated they will release the youngster.

The Ipswich youngster spent this season on loan at Gary Waddock’s Aldershot were he impressed, scoring five goals. Those exploits seemingly have not gone unnoticed. Some English Premiership sides have reportedly set eyes on the teenager. London sides Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham United are some of the teams showing interest together with Aston Villa in the Championship. Across the country Celtic under Brendan Rodgers are asking about the boy.

Most clubs keen on the youngsters who broke into the Ipswich senior team at the of 16 know that his deal won’t be as complicated. His contract runs out at the end of the season and all Ipswich can do is demand development fees.

He fell out with the manager Mick McCarthy at the Portman Road in December before being sent on loan. He is a versatile player who can operate as a utility or box to box.

Spurs last summer even invited the youngster for their NextGen Series Squad in Amsterdam.

The youngster admitted that his attitude at his parent club was the issue but all that is in the past

It remains to be seen if the boy will make the shores of Zimbabwe to play for his parents country of birth. A few other England based players have been courted who qualify to play for Zimbabwe but nothing of sort has materialised in part some issues has to do with passports.

This is the first call up for Benyu to any Zimbabwe national team setup.
