Thika Queens put their FKF Women’s Cup disappointment to bounce back to winning ways in the Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL). The former league champions thumped Kibera Soccer Ladies 8-1 at the Ligi Ndogo grounds on Sunday morning. Thika extend their lead in zone A to 18 points.
At the same time, second placed Ulinzi Starlets dropped points when they travelled to KCB Grounds to face Gaspo Women on Saturday. The latter won with a narrow 2-1 margin to take their points tally to 10. Gaspo remain third but are now two points shy of second placed Ulinzi.
At the Mumias Sports Complex, Vihiga Queens were 3-0 winners over Kisumu All Starlets to strengthen their lead at the summit in zone B. With this latest victory, the Alex Alumirah led side go three points clear from second placed Trans Nzoia Falcons who drew with Oserian Ladies on Saturday.
The rot continues for Mathare United Women who scored their first goal of the season against Zetech which only proved to be a consolation. The hosts, Zetech condemned Mary Adhiambo’s charges to a 3-1 loss to only push them closer towards relegation. Zetech stay fourth and are tied on ten points with Gaspo with a smaller goal difference.
In other results, SEP Oyugis mastered their third win of the season against Eldoret Falcons in NaivQueens Wadadia beat Nakuru West Queens 3-1. Kayole Starlets emerged 2-0 winners against lowly placed Makolanders who remain in seventh with four points.
